Reports To: Extrusion Team Leader
Location: Peculiar, MO

Position Overview

The Operator is responsible for operating machines, and assisting with the training of Operator Trainee’s and Coiler/Packaging employees.

Essential Job Functions

• Operate coiler, dump table, grinder, printer and cutter.
• All packaging functions.
• Quality control inspection of all products.
• Monitor and record quality checks (specifications) of all product.
• Keep product within specifications, as determined by the QC department.
• Monitor and record machine settings.
• Assist in training new operators.
• Keep work area clean and safe.
• Maintain general housekeeping duties within the department.
• Must comply with company and department rules and procedures.

Requirements

• Good mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills.
• Must be careful, concise and attention to detail.
• Good eye and hand coordination.
• Excellent communication (written and oral) and organizational skills.
• Ability to follow directions and work harmoniously with supervisors and operators.
• Basic math skills.
• Positive, self-motivated attitude.
• Ability to read and interpret manufacturing orders and print sheets.
• Ability to set coiler for different coil lengths and sizes
• Ability to set cutter for different lengths and sizes
• Ability to change cutter blade as needed
• Ability to set up printer for different parts
• Ability to make basic wall and OD adjustments
• Ability to change out down-stream tooling
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance
  

Education and Experience

• High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent work experience
• Previous plastics experience
• 3 to 6 months extrusion experience or 6 to 9 months in a continuous process manufacturing environment
