CALIFORNIA PROPOSITION 65
California’s Proposition 65, also called the California State Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, was enacted in 1986. As part of the law, the state is required to publish a list of chemicals that are “known to the State of California to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity.” This list now contains over 800 chemicals. The complete list can be found on the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) website.

Even though the materials used in all Sioux Chief products conform to all federal government regulations and all national product standards, California’s Prop 65 requires all businesses to provide a “clear and reasonable warning” if one or more listed chemicals may be present in the product, even if that chemical is present in trace quantities. In compliance with this law, a warning will appear on many Sioux Chief products in the form of a label on the product or its packaging.
